Christmas story trail returns to Calderstones Park

The Christmas Story Trail returns to Liverpool’s Calderstones Park to entertain families for the festive season.

The self-led trail, lasting around 90 minutes and organised by the team behind The Reader’s Storybarn, runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Saturday, December 23.

This year it centres on the children’s book A Message for Santa, written by Hiawyn Owen and illustrated by Tony Ross and there are activities connected with the story for youngsters to complete as they go along.

The £12.99 family ticket includes a map, a pencil for each child and a copy of the book for each family to take home.

A Message for Santa tells the story of Emily who loves all things Christmas, except Santa. While Emily wants to block up the chimney to stop Santa getting in, her mum inspires her to write Santa a note, telling him to come in through the back door, and go no further than the kitchen table! Will Santa redeem himself in Emily's eyes?

It’s part of The Reader’s wider Christmas programme which takes place at Calderstones Mansion from the end of November and which includes Cosy Tales with Elves, Makers at the Mansion and a Foraged Wreath Workshop.
