Beyond Monet European premiere opens in Liverpool

An immersive experience that surrounds its audience with hundreds of Monet artworks which swirl and spring to life is now open in Liverpool.

Beyond Monet is receiving its European premiere at Exhibition Centre Liverpool, running in tandem with Beyond Van Gogh which returns to the waterfront venue after being premiered there last summer.

Both experiences run until August 15, with the immersives being staged on different days.

And each also now boasts a new ‘exit room’ created especially for this Liverpool residency and not seen anywhere else in the world.

Beyond Monet visitors exit through a sun-drenched recreation of Monet’s gardens at Giverny in Normandy, complete with his famous green bridge and with birdsong and aromas accurate to the setting.

And Beyond Van Gogh audiences leave the attraction through a Sunflower Alley flanked by huge nodding blooms and to the sound of Provencal birdsong. Each exit room also has benches where people can pause and contemplate their surroundings.

Last year’s Beyond Van Gogh attracted 60,000 visitors over its extended stay at Exhibition Centre Liverpool. It includes more than 300 of the Dutch artist's works.

Beyond Monet features around 400 of the Impressionist icon’s artworks, from his most famous canvases to lesser-known paintings, with the images swirling into life and blending into each other to an atmospheric soundtrack.

Trains, boats and windmills move, snow falls, seas roil, and landscapes change over the course of the immersive installation’s running time.

A series of special events are set to take place over the four-and-a-half-week residency, including yoga, Pilates and breathwork sessions and ‘paint and sip’ events where people can enjoy a glass of something while channelling their own artistic talents surrounded by Impressionist and post-Impressionist masterpieces.

Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet are produced by Annerin Productions and Paquin Entertainment Group.
