Poetry and performance comes to St James' Gardens

Spoken word heads into the great outdoors this week when a one-off event is held in St James' Gardens.

A Lovely Word was due to take place at Princes Park this Thursday, August 6, but organisers have had to change the location at short notice to the grounds below Liverpool Cathedral.

It will still feature poets and performers staging a socially-distanced open-air version of A Lovely Word – the monthly spoken word night which normally takes place at the Everyman bistro.

The event, organised by the Everyman and Playhouse in collaboration with the Unusual Art Sourcing Company - a Liverpool based performance art project, is free to attend. Audience members should bring blankets and face coverings.

There will also be a livestream of the night on YouTube.

Featured poets will perform alongside ‘open mic-ers’ during the evening at the wooden ‘henge’ which is situated at the Princes Road end of the park.

There are 10 physical and three online slots available.

A Lovely Word has run monthly since 2014 and aims to nurture local talent and give poets the chance to perform their work.

A Lovely Word at the Henge takes place in St James' Gardens on August 6 at 7.30pm. More details HERE
