Liverpool FACT reveals its opening dates
FACT is set to reopen its doors – more than four months after it closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Wood Street arts venue will undergo a phased reopening starting with the Picturehouse’s cinema screens on Friday, July 31.
FACT’s ground floor and first floor gallery spaces will open, with social distancing in place, on August 12, and will showcase the exhibition And Say the Animal Responded? – part of FACT’s Living Planet programme - which was due to open in March.
Galleries will be open from Wednesday to Sunday.
A one-way system will be in place around the building and hand sanitiser stations will be available on each floor, with visitors asked to sanitise as soon as they arrive.
The number of cubicles, sinks and hand dryers in each toilet will also be reduced to encourage social distancing, and additional cleaning of loos, handrails and lifts will take place.
While masks won’t be compulsory, people will be encouraged to wear face coverings while in the building.
FACT’s the Garden by LEAF café will remain closed but the first floor bar will be open daily from noon to 10pm for takeaway drinks only.

Meanwhile FACT has also hinted that it might be planning a special outdoor event – details are yet to be revealed.
Among the new releases due to be screened by Picturehouse are Proxima, starring Eva Green as a French astronaut, Saint Francis, Stage Mother – in which a conservative church choir director inherits her late son’s San Francisco drag club, and Russell Crowe psychological thriller Unhinged.
Tickets should be booked online and cinemagoers will be asked to present e-tickets at the door of the screen. You will also be able to buy tickets from the bar.
There will be limited seats available and staggered start times for different screens.
