Dreamgirls makes Liverpool Empire date for 2021

West End smash hit musical Dreamgirls is on its way to Liverpool next year.

The show, which has been described as ‘dazzling’, ‘lavish’ and ‘exhilarating’, will visit the Liverpool Empire for a fortnight from February 23.

Dreamgirls tells the story of three talented young singers – Effie, Lorrell and Deena – making their way against the revolutionary musical backdrop of 1960s America.

Join the three friends as they embark upon a musical rollercoaster ride through a world of fame, fortune and the ruthless realities of show business, testing their friendships to the very limit.

The production features songs including Listen, And I am Telling You I’m Not Going, I am Changing and One Night Only.

The musical was first premiered on Broadway in 1981, and in 2006 it was made in to a film starring Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson who won an Oscar for her performance as Effie White.

ITV’s The Voice finalist 2019 Nicole Dennis will play Effie at the Liverpool Empire with more casting to be announced.
