Artists invited to bid for a place on Liverpool Plinth

Northern artists are being encouraged to submit their work to stand on the Liverpool Plinth.

The sculpture will follow Sam Shendi’s Split Decision (pictured) and Gold Lamé by Tony Heaton which have already enjoyed exposure on the plinth which stands in the grounds of Liverpool Parish Church.

Now Liverpool BID and dot-art have launched the open call for 2020.

Any artist working primarily in sculpture, and based in the north of England, is eligible to submit existing work.

The application process closes on Sunday, March 22 and along with their work being on display for a year, the successful artist will also receive a £1,000 prize.

Director of dot-art Lucy Byrne says: “I'd urge any artist who thinks they may fit the bill to submit their work.

“At dot-art we're passionate about championing artists but also bringing art to people, and our resolution for 2020 is to ensure we show everyone how art can transform their public spaces and be part of everyday life in an extraordinary way."
