Musical Once makes Liverpool Empire date as part of UK tour

Hit musical Once is set to come to the Liverpool Empire as part of its first UK tour.

Tickets are now on sale for the show which visits the Lime Street theatre from January 20-25 2020.

The multi award-winning stage show is based on the 2007 Irish indie film of the same name which features the tale of two lost souls – a 30-something Dublin street busker called Guy and a Czech musician, only identified as ‘Girl’ – who fall in love unexpectedly.

The uplifting story unfolds over five intense days where small actions lead to big changes for both characters. It is staged on a minimal set and with the actors also doubling as musicians.

Once features a book by award-winning Irish playwright and screenwriter Enda Walsh, and music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová.

It won a Best Original Song Oscar for the number Falling Slowly, a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album, eight Tony Awards on Broadway, and an Olivier for Outstanding Achievement in Music.

The touring cast will be led by singer-songwriter Daniel Healy as Guy and Emma Lucia as Girl.

Once is at the Liverpool Empire from January 20-25 2020. Tickets from the website HERE
