Brazilica to bring a carnival atmosphere to Liverpool

Liverpool’s Brazilica Festival returns to the city’s streets this weekend for its 12th year.

The annual festival of all things Latin American will take over the city centre for three days from July 12-14, including the popular carnival parade which attracts thousands of spectators and will this year feature both a Carnival Queen and Carnival King.

Brazilica is organised by Liverpool Carnival Company, and along with the centrepiece procession – which will feature 16 samba bands from the UK and Europe - the festival also includes a host of other events.

The full programme is yet to be announced.

Maeve Morris of Liverpool Carnival Company said: “Were excited to bring Brazilica back for another fabulous year. As ever expect a spectacular array of colour, music and dance as we celebrate the very best of Brazilian culture.

“There will be lots going on at this year’s festival with a full programme of events including the addition of a Carnival King who will accompany our beautiful Carnival Queen in leading the parade.”

Brazilica 2019 runs from July 12-14.
