LightNight Liverpool reveals theme as it marks 10 years

LightNight Liverpool is set to celebrate its 10th birthday this May with a programme of more than 100 free special events.

Fifty of the city’s best cultural venues will open their doors on Friday, May 17 for the annual night-time culture crawl which sees thousands of people take to the streets.

LightNight, produced by Open Culture, allows audiences to pick and choose from a wide range of exciting happenings and new commissions across the city centre, from the Royal Albert Dock and World Heritage waterfront to Hope Street, Ropewalks, the Baltic Triangle, Commercial District and the St George’s Quarter.

The theme for 2019 is Ritual in its many forms, both historic and contemporary, and personal and collective.

Exhibitions, music, dance and theatre performances, film installations, hands-on workshops, talks, and parties all on one special night in celebration of Liverpool’s world-class cultural offer.

Six new and ambitious local and international artistic commissions will be announced in March, followed by the full programme release on April 15.

LightNight Liverpool takes place on Friday, May 17 from 5pm to late. For more details visit the website HERE
