Time to Tickle the Ivories at Liverpool ONE this summer
Tickle the Ivories is returning to Liverpool ONE – and you never know who you might see at the piano keyboard.
Last summer eagle-eyed shoppers might have spotted Grammy Award-winning Canadian singer and jazz pianist Diana Krall playing some rollicking honky tonk at one upright outside John Lewis, while husband Elvis Costello filmed her and uploaded the footage on Twitter.
Meanwhile 10-year-old Harrison Crane from Ormskirk drew a crowd with his rendition of I Giorni by Ludovico Einaudi; with over half-a-million people tuning in on Facebook too.
And two workmen also went viral when they surprised shoppers on Peter’s Lane with an impromptu performance of dance hit classics.
This year the North West’s biggest piano festival, which was launched in 2010, is on the lookout for new talent.
Anyone who fancies taking a turn at the piano stool can book a slot at one of six pianos dotted around Liverpool ONE. And if you’re officially signed up it means you can keep any money passers by give you in appreciation of your playing.
Liverpool ONE marketing director Donna Howitt, said: “Tickle The Ivories showcases Liverpool’s natural ability to perform. Over the 10-week festival, visitors to Liverpool ONE will be entertained by a multitude of incredible pianists, singers, choirs and musicians, all of different ages and genres.”
Tickle The Ivories runs from July 20 to September 30. Book a piano slot HERE.
