Mark Thomas brings the front line to Liverpool

Mark Thomas is bringing Showtime from the Front Line to the Playhouse this week.

The political comedian, writer and activist returns to Liverpool following his previous shows, Trespass and The Red Shed, this time with his real-life tale of setting up a comedy club in the heart of Gaza.

He will be joined on stage at the Williamson Square theatre by Faisal Abu Alhayjaa and Alaa Shehada, two performers, actors and now aspiring comics from the Jenin Club – the comedy venue he opened in the Jenin refugee camp.

Mark and his team set out to run a comedy club and put on two nights of laughter on the West Bank, only to find that it’s not so simple to celebrate freedom of speech in a place with so little freedom.

Expect a funny and moving story about “being yourself in a place that wants to put you in a box”.

Showtime from the Front Line is at the Playhouse from March 8-10. Tickets from the website HERE
