Brazilica brings carnival to Liverpool's Pier Head

Liverpool's annual Brazilica Festival has a new location for 2017. The July event - the 10th anniversary of Brazilica - will take place on the city's world heritage waterfront. Brazilian culture, music, and food and drink will be celebated at the festival, organised by Liverpool Carnival Company, which takes place over a long weekend. The Brazilica main stage will be located at the Pier Head Village, which will also be the focus for street food, an artisan market, family entertainment and what are being described as 'high-flying thrill rides'. Expect exotic costumes and plenty of samba beats, not least from Bixiga 70, a 10-piece Brazilian Afrobeat band from São Paulo. There is also a Fringe Festival attached to the main event, while the Brazilian Film Festival returns for a third year. Along with the Pier Head, there will be music at venues across the city. And the spectacular night-time Carnival Parade, on July 15, will wend its way through the city from Abercromby Square to a location yet to be announced. Brazilica is the UK's largest samba carnival event, and takes place from July 14-16. More from the website HERE.
