Heathers heads for Liverpool Empire as part of UK tour
The stage musical version of black comedy Heathers arrives at the Liverpool Empire next week as part of a new tour of UK and Ireland.
Heathers the Musical, opening on August 17, is the first major touring show to play at the theatre since it reopened earlier this month. It will spend two weeks at Lime Street.
The all-singing, all-dancing stage version of the hit 1989 teen film – which starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater – is set at Westerberg High where the school is ruled by a wealthy and beautiful but cruel clique of ‘Heathers’.
Veronica Sawyer is just another nobody dreaming of a better day. But when she helps out the Heathers and is elevated to their ranks as a reward, her dreams of popularity may finally come true.
However, mysterious teen rebel JD teaches her that it might kill to be a nobody, but it is murder being a somebody.
The musical, which had its UK premiere in the West End in 2018, is by Laurence O’Keefe and Kevin Murphy and is produced by Bill Kenwright and Paul Taylor-Mills.
Rebecca Wickes plays Veronica, and Simon Gordon is JD.
Heathers is at the Liverpool Empire from August 17-28. Tickets from the website HERE
