Albert Dock puts on a sparkling seasonal show

The Albert Dock is sparkling for Christmas.

The city’s grade I listed waterfront attraction has gone fairy light crazy to mark the festive season, with trees and buildings covered in thousands of glittering bulbs.

And each evening in December, Albert Dock bosses are promising a magical light display on the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Building (formerly the dock traffic office).

The building, part of National Museums Liverpool, will become the canvas for an intricate light projection centred around the theme of Unwrapping Christmas on Albert Dock, incorporating origami and handcrafted paper designs in the style of a beautiful pop-up book.

The projection runs until January 1, from 5-10pm every 20 minutes on a loop.

Albert Dock marketing manager Clare Rawlinson says: “Our projection last year was a huge hit, especially with local families bringing the children down to see the lights, and it created quite a stir on social media.

“If you loved last year then you are in for a big surprise - what we have in store this year is nothing short of amazing.”
