Apocalyptic gig theatre at Liverpool Everyman

What do you get if you take a dash of David Bowie, a soupçon of Philip K Dick and a whole lot of Kneehigh-style chutzpah?

The answer is coming to the Liverpool Everyman stage for Halloween.

Composer and theatre-maker (and recent The Tin Drum cast member) Dom Coyote brings his compelling style of gig-theatre to Hope Street with his award-winning Songs For the End of the World, playing for just one night.

The barnstorming “apocalyptic rollercoaster” follows the adventures of Jim Walters – an astronaut in orbit on his way to Mars. As Jim floats in space, the world of New Albion is unstable. The Free Radicals are planning a new type of existence, and while some predict Biblical Armageddon, many are simply preparing for the end.

When the apocalypse actually arrives, Jim is left suspended in orbit, broadcasting his songs for the end of the world back to a silent Earth, where others are fighting for their future.

Coyote will be joined on stage by his band The Bloodmoneys who have toured and recorded with artists including Beth Orton, Scissor Sisters, Gary Numan, Goldfrapp, Beth Gibbons (Portishead), and Tinie Tempah.

He said: “It's like going to a gig in a parallel universe...a band playing their hearts out for the end of the world, and it's never been more relevant as incredible political events continue to unfold before our eyes.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring the show to to the ardent music loving city of Liverpool.”

Meanwhile Coyote is currently working on a new show for 2018 called We Can Time Travel.
