The Pies have it at the Epstein Theatre

Cult Liverpool band The Pies are set to make a rare appearance on stage in the city, almost quarter of a century after the original line-up split up.

The group will play a gig at the Epstein Theatre on October 20.

The Pies have become well-known to Merseyside music fans through their name being graffitied on structures around the region, including the M57 bridge at Switch Island.

Guitarist and singer Ashley Martin formed a new The Pies after the band’s 1993 demise, and their first album – titled Best of Pies - was finally released last year.

Along with band members Ashley, drummer Tim Kinch, guitarist Si Lee, keyboard player Lee Shone and bassist Tony Oxley, the show on October 20 will also feature mystery special guests.

And they will also be joined by infamous Liverpool streaker Mark Roberts who will showcase his comedy stand-up for the first time.

Ashley Martin says: “I love the Epstein Theatre, it's layout and intimacy is perfect for a Pies show. I have two original band members with me Si Lee and Lee Shone, and we are all looking forward to letting rip on the songs again.”
