Everyman Rep second season shows revealed

The Liverpool Everyman has revealed the shows that will make up its second Repertory season.

Hope Street audiences will be able to enjoy a revival of the Lerner and Loewe musical Paint Your Wagon, directed by Everyman and Playhouse artistic director Gemma Bodinetz, which will open the 2018 programme.

Bodinetz will also direct a modern version of Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello during the spring season, while associate director Nick Bagnall will turn his attention to A Clockwork Orange.

A fourth production, announced today, is a re-imagining of Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt, written by Bob Farquhar and relocated to 20th Century Liverpool.

The second Everyman Rep Company will be revealed in the autumn.

The announcement follows the completion of the inaugural rep season which saw a company of 14 actors take on five productions over six months.

Gemma Bodinetz said: “We’re still reeling from the joy and the intensity of this year’s season and have attempted in our second season to build on all we have learned and all our audiences seemed to appreciate.

“If last season looked at our struggle to retain our humanity against all odds, then this season of plays looks at our attempts to shake it all up and do it differently.”

Booking opens in November. Theatregoers can sign up to register their interest HERE.
