He's been played by Richard Gere, Paul Nicholas, Craig McLachlan, Liverpool's Ray Quinn, and of course, by a certain John Travolta in the 1978 film. But now there's a new kid on the block at Rydell High, as The Wanted's Tom Parker dons a T-Bird leather jacket as Danny Zuko in Grease - opening at the Liverpool Empire tonight.
Ironically Parker, who's been winning audience approval since the tour opened in Manchester, is not the only Zuko in the cast. Former leading man Darren Day is also on stage, albeit this time as Teen Angel.
They're joined by Over the Rainbow's Danielle Hope as Sandy, and Louisa Lytton as the wise-cracking Rizzo.
The musical first opened on Broadway in 1972, and 45 years on the story of Pink Ladies, T-Birds, first love, rumbles and chang chang changity chang shoo bop is still going strong. Like greased lightnin' in fact.
Grease is at the Liverpool Empire from April 3-8 and tickets are available on the website HERE
