    Liverpool Literary Festival 2018 line-up revealed

    Liverpool Literary Festival returns to the city this weekend with a busy line-up of events over one weekend. Sir Tony Robinson, crime writer Val McDermid, Colm Toibin, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Claire Tomalin, Michael Frayn, and award-winning author and playwright Sebastian Barry are among the line-up. The University of Liverpool-organised festival runs from October 19-21 at venues including the Victoria Gallery & Museum, Mountford Hall, Tate Liverpool and the Hope Street Hotel.

    Middle class fashion items from the Georgian era have gone on show at the Walker Art Gallery.     Casa date for the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists

    Robert Tressell’s classic novel The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists is being brought to the stage at the Casa later this month. Merlin Productions Inc presents the production at the Hope Street venue on August 24-25 as part of Theatre at the Casa.     Minton floor goes on show at St George's Hall

    St George’s Hall’s exquisite Minton tiled floor is going on annual show to the public this month. The floor, which is made up of more than 30,000 Minton tiles and is sunken below the outside borders of the great hall, will be on public display from August 3-12. It was concealed in the 19th century to allow dancing and events at the grade I listed Lime Street landmark.     A football pitch with a difference has been installed at the Royal Albert Dock. The floating football field is a pop-up pitch on a pontoon in the heart of the grade I listed waterfront attraction. And it will host the annual Summer Football on the Dock season which runs from August 2 to 10, 11am to 3pm, and from August 11-22, daily from 11am to 4pm.
